Marble bench tops and vanities are difficult to maintain. Along with other types of natural stone, marble can be easily attacked by acids, such as lemon juice, vinegar, red wine, make-up or shampoo. This often leaves unsightly etch marks on the surface.

While normal sealers work well to prevent oil or water based stains we haven‘t yet found a sealer that can prevent ‘etching’ – which is damage caused to the stone’s surface by acids, such as lemon juice, red wine, vinegar, make-up – even tap water can be slightly acidic! The first sign of etching that you will notice is usually a faint discolouration or blotchy mark. The bench surface in the photograph above has been pretty well ‘hammered’ with vinegar, citrus juice, tomato juice, etc.
Clearstone is the perfect solution for protecting marble bench tops. It is a natural-looking, clear, impervious coating, which can be applied to the surface of marble, limestone, sandstone, etc. Once it has been applied the stone CANNOT BE STAINED OR DAMAGED BY ACID.
